For me the SA Marathon will be a life long memory of tremendous personal challenge and endurance. Yet somehow the spectacular white mountains peaks and human camaraderie that was always present provided the motivation and power to succeed. What an exhilarating and unforgettable experience!
I would like to congratulate Ted and Jared and the rest of people for their effort, enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrated during the execution of the Sierra Andina Marathon 2016. The organization was fantastic considering the difficulties of preparing such types of events. It has been a great experience and I really enjoyed running through breathtaking landscapes in Peru’s remote Cordillera Blanca.
Having run many marathons in my life, I ran this one on my 60th birthday as a celebration. Aside from breathtaking scenery (really breath taking) I found that the whole experience from leaving Huaraz, the first night stay, the run itself, the end (a birthday cake) and return to Huaraz, extremely well organized, safe, awesome with supportive volunteers, great aid stations with energizing food and drink, well marked and considering the logistics incredibly well run!!! Will do it again.. and will volunteer
The Sierra Andina Marathon was my first competitive run since high school (33 years ago!) and I must say I enjoyed the experience much more than I had expected to. The combination of the many aid stations and a bit of friendly competition allowed me to run the route a full hour and a half faster than I had previously managed. Time: 6:25
