Safety

The priority of the Sierra Andina Chavín Trail is always the safety of its participants. To achieve this goal we ask all participants to respect the following rules, policies and actions detailed below:

45k Time Limit- 11 Hours

  • There will be one cutoff time of 6 hours to Aid Station 3 at Yanashallash Pass (29km). In the event that you are unable to make this first cutoff time you will be asked turn around and return to Aid Station 2 where a vehicle will transport you back to Huaraz. There will be horses and vehicles sweeping the route and giving rides to those who are unable to complete the route in the 11 hour time limit.

  • If the staff working at any aid station determine that a participant is not fit, healthy, strong or prepared to continue to higher altitudes or more inaccessible areas, they have the right and duty not to let the participant continue the race.

Dangerous conditions

In case of dangerous weather conditions the race director will choose an alternative route or in extreme cases cancel the race.
